Steering Committee and RECP Centre’s Outcomes 2019

The sixth Steering Committee Meeting held within Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute on 26 February 2020, was the last within the overall Project lifecycle (the UNIDO Project “Promoting the Adaptation and Adoption of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) through the Establishment and Operation of a Cleaner Production Centre (CPC) in Ukraine”). Since it has been the final SC Meeting this year and within the whole Project, the donors (Swiss Confederation and the UNIDO) and the stakeholders (Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute) were interested mainly in the key 2019 cumulative results.

13 February 2020 became the date for the third RECP Club meeting in Khmelnytskyi within EU4Environment programme financed by the EU.

This time the meeting discussions were devoted to global challenges and risks for business development, applying RECP-concept to overcome problems, RECP benefits and opportunities, key reasons why energy and materials are consumed in an inefficient way, waste generation, and standard measures and options to enhance resource efficiency and minimize waste generation for industrial enterprises, who have become the RECP Club members thanks to the EU4Environment programme. Sound Chemicals Management and Chemical Leasing seminar

Sound Chemicals Management and Chemical Leasing seminar (SCM&ChL) was held on February 06th, 2020. The event was hosted by Igor Sikorsky KPI and initiated by the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre in Ukraine. The target audience were industrial companies, academia.
The announcement about the new Centre’s activity, and that is SCM as well as a new ChL team in 2020 became one of the key seminar tasks. Andrii Vorfolomeiev, the Centre’s director, moderated the event.
Oleksandr Khokhotva, the Centre’s chemical management expert, was given a floor to go deeply into the SCM concept and focus on details, like background info, worldwide implementation, fundamentals, case studies etc.

First RECP Club Meetings within EU4Environment Programme


2 RECP Clubs started in December 2019, one in Poltava on 17th December, the other – in Khmelnytskyi on 19th December.

The participants were granted a chance to:

  • study basic RECP practices;
  • create RECP company profile;
  • analyze solutions for typical problems in resource consumption;
  • identify indicators for RECP assessments.

Training on circular economy


On December 20th, 2019 within EU4Environment programme framework (financed by EU) Johannes Fresner delivered a training “Circular Economy” to RECP Centre staff. The trainer Johannes Fresner has been for years the UNIDO expert and the Executive Director for STENUM GmbH, Austria.

The training incorporated two activity sessions, there were several lectural theoretical sessions and many interesting practical activities for the staff members.   Read More

Conference-2019 ‘Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy’

The final reporting conference ‘Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy’ took place on December 4th, 2019, and was organized by the RECP Centre team in a somewhat different 2-panel format. This year it became an integral part of the second Ukrainian Industrial Week in Ukraine. Kateryna Romanova, the communication and advocacy expert of RECP in Ukraine, moderated the first panel, while the RECP Centre Director Andrii Vorfolomeiv took professional guidance over the second panel.
