The First Awareness Raising Workshop for Future Eco-Industrial Park within the GEIPP Ukraine Project

On 27 May 2021, Bila Tserkva town hosted the first awareness raising workshop within the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme in Ukraine (GEIPP) and motivated manufacturing companies belonging to Bilotserkivskyi Vantazhnyi Aviatsiynyi Kompleks (BVAK) join the “GEIPP Ukraine” Project. Among others, BVAK management and the production enterprises located on its territory, representatives of the Bila Tserkva Town Council, RECP Centre, and the “GEIPP Ukraine” project became the participants of the workshop.

The Head of Economics Department at Bila Tserkva Town Council opened the workshop and addressed the participants with an encouraging speech about the benefits that society and businesses can get in the future through participation in the “GEIPP Ukraine”. She also expressed her full support to the project implementation on the basis of BVAK.

Being in the role of a workshop organizer, the RECP Centre introduced the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme with an emphasis on “GEIPP Ukraine” Project in particular. The Director and technical experts of the RECP Centre one-by-one informed of the project objectives, the concept of resource efficient and cleaner production (RECP) to be used in future technical assessments, the RECP’s environmental, economic and social benefits for business development within an eco-industrial park. At the end of the workshop all the participants had a common discussion about the algorithm of future activities and plans within the project.

The RECP Centre plays one of the key roles in the “GEIPP Ukraine” project and undertakes technical RECP assessments at BVAK enterprises to assess their resource efficiency – all that done with RECP concept. In addition, during the whole project period, the RECP Centre will also organize information workshops and make significant efforts to find new opportunities for building industrial symbiosis.

The participants of the event showed interest towards the new project and demonstrated their willingness to work comprehensively in the complex work of the industrial park transition into an eco-industrial park in Bila Tserkva.

Gender disaggregation shows 35% women in the overall list of participants.

“GEIPP Ukraine” is part of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP) implemented by UNIDO in countries with transition economies, and is financially supported by Swiss Confederation (SECO).
