Providing support the Green Modernization of the Ukrainian Economy, small and medium-sized enterprises in particular

Approach

GIZ is advising Ukrainian ministries and facilitating dialogue processes. Using pilot and demonstration measures, the project is creating a conducive environment at local level and within companies, is supporting reform efforts by the partners to foster ecological modernisation of the economy, enhance energy efficiency and reduce dependency on energy imports

Challenges

Green economy is a new topic in Ukraine. It lays down on the pricnciple that companies have to lower their energy consumption, and make more efficient use of available natural resources. This brings down production costs, and makes products from Ukraine more competitive on the international market

RECP Centre's role

Searching and selecting enterprises to involve into the Programme, conducting workshops on RECP for trainees and supporting the GIZ office in Ukraine on technical equipment selection,
on-site energy audits

Memorandum of Cooperation

In April 2017, the Centre signed the Memorandum of Cooperation among the “Programme to Support the Green Modernization of the Ukrainian Economy”, Centre for CSR Development, Public Association “Global Compact Network in Ukraine” and Institute for Green Economics and Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

All the partners agreed on cooperation to support government officials and local communities in adaptation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with focus on SDG 8 and SDG 9, raising awareness of the importance of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and in promoting the green economy concept in Ukraine
