The Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Club (RECP Club) was presented in Khmelnytskyi Oblast within the framework of the EU-funded EU4Environment programme on November 25, 2019.
Over 22 participants became the event attendees, and almost 40% were women. The overall participants presented various social groups, like business supporting associations and governmental institutions, academia, mass media, public etc. The speakers informed the audience on the basic assignments and steps to implement the international programme ‘European Union for the Environment’ (EU4Environment) in Ukraine and its component ‘Circular Economy and New Growth Opportunities’. In addition, the participants got to know about participation terms to join the RECP CLub in the target Khmelnytskyi oblast.
It should be noted that introducing RECP Clubs launch within EU4 Environment programme in Khmelnytskyi city is of utmost importance as lots of local companies and enterprises really require serious modernization and resource efficiency policy on-site, as well as wide reduction of harmful emissions.
The Director for Regional Development Agency in Khmelnytska oblast Roman Prymush delivered a welcoming speech and reported, ‘Regional Development Agency is by now totally ready to provide maximum support and help in disseminating RECP Clubs concept idea, involving and attracting industrial companies to join RECP Club, and build-up resource efficient and cleaner productions in general over the oblast’.
Andrii Vorfolomeiev was acting in two fundamental roles during the event, the first is the Director of the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre, and the other one – the event moderator. In his presentation he mentioned that Khmelnytskyi oblast is one of the pioneers where the RECP Club has started to operate first. And the reason is simple – local industrial enterprises in the region showed real interest towards implementing resource saving activities that help reduce electricity bills, materials and water consumption as well as strong desire to enhance their own business competitiveness while mitigating overall environmental impact.
Volodymyr Popovych, the RECP Clubs coordinator in Khmelnytskyi oblast shared some successful results after the RECP Clubs were established in Chernihiv and Kharkiv oblasts 2 years ago. The figure like UAH 4 million impressed the audience, and it was an example of overall savings gained after modernization processes took place at the companies being the RECP Club participants.
‘Energy Cluster in Khmelnytskyi is a platform for NGOS, governmental authorities, business, mass media and academia united by one idea and that is mastering renewables and enhancing energy efficiency in the oblast. Moreover, our Cluster is ready to become an information and organization partner to facilitate RECP CLubs activites in our oblast’, summarized the Chairman for NGO ‘Khmelnytskyi Energy Cluster’ Stepan Kushnir in his speech. He also shared his own experience in building communication bridge between the state, business and government in promoting resource efficiency in Khmelnytskyi.
It became a nice surprise that other participants also expressed their willingnesss to facilitate and support RECP CLub activity, these were Regional Development Agency in Khmelnytska oblast, Khmelnytskyi Energy Cluster, Sustainable Development Agency (SDA) and Oblast State Administration.
Among those showed up for the event were public activists. They truly believe that RECP Club establishment will boost business development and help make it more technological, energy efficient and state-of-the-art.
