GREENCHEM FIRST TRAINING IN UKRAINE

The first training “Green Chemistry for Sustainable Development and Growth” within the framework of the Global GreenChem Innovation and Networking Programme took place on June 15, 2023.
The online event was organized by the RECP Centre Ukraine. 

The Programme is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented by UNIDO and executed by Yale University.

The RECP Centre’s two chemical management experts Olena Tabachuk and Oleksandr Khokhotva became the trainers. They developed very comprehensive and visual presentations that covered all the announced training topics and drew the audience’s attention.

Thus, the training was able to fulfill its objectives, namely: review the current role of chemicals in society, environment and economy; raise awareness of green chemistry among participants; present the green chemistry principles and its potential in various research areas, and discuss new opportunities for the green chemistry development and dissemination in Ukraine.

The training audience was represented by the experts and researchers, representatives of government agencies, enterprises, expert organizations, NGOs, research institutions, etc. who deal with chemicals in industry and education, study and apply green chemistry and circular economy principles, and are concerned with environmental issues.

Over 50 participants joined the event, with 65% of them being women.

We would like to remind you that the selection of a manufacturing enterprise to demonstrate the benefits of introducing a green alternative to persistent organic pollutants is still underway as part of the Programme’s implementation in Ukraine.

The Global GreenChem Innovation and Network Programme (GreenChem) aims to strengthen the sound management of industrial chemicals and their waste through better control, reduction, and/or elimination protocols, and specifically to scale up green chemistry solutions for POPs and mercury replacement through capacity building, innovation, and the creation of a global green chemistry network fostering visibility, support, and implementation.
