Initiative I-GO/Objective

Help SMEs access resource efficiency support services most relevant to their activity, location, and business needs through an interactive self-assessment tool, backed up by the SME Support Centre, that enables SMEs to quickly determine their resource efficiency status and benefit from a tailored list of recommendations and associated support services

Initiative UNDA SPP/Objectives

  • Strengthen national capacity on implementing sustainable public procurement measure
  • Shaping company policy in compliance with relevant sustainability criteria, and
  • Support businesses through capacity building and advisory services to improve their ability to comply with associated sustainability criteria

RECP Centre's role

The Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre (Ukraine), in partnership with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Office for Europe, promotes activities to upscale SME resource efficiency practices and sustainable public procurement in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine

Project Outcomes

II. Fifty enterprises in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine underwent two rounds of questionaries in order to assess the integration success of sustainable public procurement tool into the business models

III. Consultancy services on applying SPP approaches were provided for 42 companies in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine.
For each company, the experts of the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre offered individual recommendations in the below indicated areas:

  • Integrating sustainability criteria into overall enterprise policy
  • Strengthen the consistency of the company's supply chain
  • Enhancing the company's readiness for sustainable public procurement
  • Introducing environmental labeling and certification mechanisms

IV. A network of stakeholders from organizations in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine has been formed, and thier activities contribute to strengthening national capacity to implement sustainable public procurement

V. An I-GO Assistant – a free-of-charge resource efficiency self-assessment and navigation tool – was designed specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) active in any sector or country. The I-GO Assistant offers SMEs a simplified access to tailored resource efficiency knowledge and support services most relevant to their size, sector of activity and location.

The I-GO (Integrated Greening Operations) initiative was developed by the Green Industry Platform in collaboration with the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) initiative and is currently being deployed in several regions in collaboration with the Global Opportunities for Sustainable Development Goals (GO4SDGs).
