Global GreenChem Hackathon 2025!

We invite representatives of higher education institutions, scientific organizations, and research institutes to take part in the Global GreenChem Hackathon 2025 — an event dedicated to discovering innovative solutions in the field of green chemistry. The hackathon will be held within the framework of the XIV Festival of Innovative Projects “Sikorsky Challenge 2025” and is implemented under the UNIDO Global GreenChem Innovation and Networking Programme (GreenChem) with financial support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

This event provides a unique opportunity for innovative teams to apply the principles and approaches of green chemistry to address real challenges faced by Ukrainian industrial enterprises.
The main goal is to identify environmentally safe, efficient, and economically viable solutions based on green chemistry principles.

This year, participants will work on one of two challenges proposed by partner companies (each team selects only one challenge to focus on):

1. 1. 1. ELF DECOR is looking for alternative, naturally derived functional additives that can replace conventional synthetic ingredients in the production of water-based construction materials.

      2. DOW invites participants to develop a concept for obtaining chemicals, polymers, or materials from renewable Ukrainian feedstocks and/or from industrial or household waste, specifying potential processing methods and application areas.

The hackathon will take place from 31 October to 2 November 2025 in Kyiv (offline format).
Organizers will cover travel and accommodation expenses for participants coming from other cities.

The application deadline is 22 October 2025.
Participation is free of charge, but the number of spots is limited, so early registration is highly recommended.

Participants may register individually or as a team of 3–5 members. If you already have a project, we would be happy to review it. If you are still looking for an idea, the hackathon is the perfect environment to create, develop, and test it in practice.
