Presentation of the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Club in Poltava oblast


On November 20, 2019, the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Club (RECP Club) was presented in Poltava Oblast within the framework of the EU-funded EU4Environment programme.
This was actually an awareness raising event focused on demonstrating the benefits of resource efficient and cleaner production concept on the one hand, and establishing RECF clubs in Poltava region on the other hand. The event was organized within the framework of ‘European Union for the Environment’ (EU4Environment) programme and its component ‘Circular Economy and New Growth Opportunities’, implemented by the RECP Centre in Ukraine.
Over 40 attendees became the participants of the event, businesses, academia experts, NGOs and state authorities among them.

In her speech, the Rector of the Academy Professor Valentyna Aranchii made a special emphasis on the importance of the event, as it has become for sure a crucial step over to build-up resource efficient and environmentally friendly productions in Poltava region. She also delivered her special thanks to the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre for this unique chance to join the RECP Clubs in the area.
Maria Dolzhenko, Deputy Director for the Economy Development Department at Poltava Regional State Administration reported, ‘Our oblast strives to put all its efforts to boost innovations, establish and participate in energy clusters and pick-up the resource efficiency idea’.
Andrii Vorfolomeiev, the RECP Centre Director announced a new programme launch in Ukraine, that is ‘European Union for Environment’ (EU4Environment). The main project objective is help Ukraine preserve its natural capital and increase people’s environmental well-being by supporting environment-related action, demonstrating and unlocking opportunities for greener growth, and setting mechanisms to better manage environmental risks and impacts.
Based on positive earlier experience in establishing RECP Clubs in Chernihiv and Kharkiv oblasts, the national RECP Clubs facilitator Ivan Omelchuk unveiled the benefits the EU4Environment programme and RECP CLubs can bring to boost industries and businesses development in Poltava oblast.

RECP Centre’s technical expert Hanna Bilovol finalized the event and offered the participants basic examples of technical resource efficient options implementation at the national companies.
The participants showed interest towards RECP Clubs and EU4Environment programme options.
The event ended up with a special ceremony and that was signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the RECP Centre and the Poltava State Agrarian Academy (PSAA). During the event, the companies presenting Poltava oblast got a positive perception and understanding of the new practices of circular economy, benefits and advantages due to of resource efficient and cleaner production methodology implementation in general.
