EU4ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTS UKRAINIAN ENTERPRISES ON THE PATH TOWARDS GREEN PRODUCTION

With the support of UNIDO and the European Union (EU), Ukraine is making progress on the path towards industrial recovery, making it a green, resilient, and sustainable one.

Initiated with an online event (20 October 2022) on the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology and its benefits for manufacturing enterprises, the conversation on green and sustainable production has quickly gained traction among Ukrainian manufacturers and producers. This is because now, more than ever, green initiatives and sound methodologies are needed to enable enterprises to effectively improve the sustainability of their supply chain and production processes. In this sense, a PEF study can provide valuable insights into the most impactful ingredients, processing steps, or life cycle stages of a product, making, therefore, the perfect starting point for the reduction of their environmental impact. NATIONAL MANUFACTURING COMPANIES DURING WAR IN UKRAINE – RESEARCHING ACTUAL STATE AND NEEDS

Russia’s aggressive full-scale war against Ukraine this year, like the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, shocked Ukrainian business and the entire civilized world, too. Locally, the war has already been going on in Ukraine since 2014 in the East, where all heavy Ukrainian industry is concentrated. Starting from February 24, 2022, manufacturing enterprises have again suffered and faced a number of challenges, among which the most difficult is relocation from the sites of hostilities to the West of Ukraine.

Similar to 2020, the RECP Centre did not stay away from the national problem and became concerned about the state of entrepreneurship in war conditions. In July, a survey of large, medium and small enterprises was initiated to investigate the real situation and the needs of those companies. Based on the results of the data obtained, we analyzed the possibilities for developing business support solutions to resume work, improve economic and environmental performance.
