The Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre in Ukraine in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has developed a joint video dedicated to gender equality and involving women to power industry and resource efficiency. The video offers to examine the role of women in these areas, become aware that good business development directly depends on the share of women and men in a company.
Five women in the video represent different organizations (UNIDO, Swiss Cooperation Office in Ukraine, Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre, Women Energy Club of Ukraine, State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving). They claim that gender equality and women’s empowerment have a positive impact on the inclusive and sustainable development of industry, especially in energy sector and resource efficiency. Women are the agents of change in all spheres of social life and they believe it is necessary to change our attitude to gender balance in the world today, involving men as well. Gender equality allows both men and women to contribute equally to economic, political, social and cultural development of the nation.

On April 29, 2021 an online consultation workshop was held in the framework of the preparatory phase of the UNIDO project “The Global Greenchem Innovation and Network Programme” (Greenchem) in Ukraine funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). This international project is prepared by UNIDO and Yale University with the support of the National Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centres in Ukraine, Serbia, Peru, Indonesia, Jordan and Uganda. In Ukraine, the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre (RECP Centre) is involved in the preparation of this project with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

The kick-off stakeholders meeting on the “Circular Economy and New Growth Opportunities” component of the EU4Environment Action in Ukraine took place on 25 February 2021. The online event was targeted on presenting the progress made during 2019-2020 and on introducing the plans for the future.
On December 16, 2020, the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre hold the national online conference “Ecomoderization of Ukrainian industry: from resource efficiency to circular economy”. It became a landmark event for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) project “Promoting the Adaptation and Adoption of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production through the Establishment and Operation of a Cleaner Production Centre in Ukraine” and for the Cleaner Production Centre (Centre). The project was implemented in Ukraine from 2013 to 2020 and aimed at promoting more efficient and rational use of resources in industry, enhancing the competitiveness of Ukrainian enterprises and reducing the environmental impact.

On 12 November 2020, the planned online-event “Industrial Resource Efficiency in the Eastern Region of Ukraine” was held to familiarize participants with the practical aspects of the resource efficiency implementation in the Eastern region, to indicate the characteristics of the work in the target region, as well as providing online education for sustainable development and sustainable business processes for SMEs and so forth.
